for professional and personal references on your resume.Responsibilities:Assist veterinarian in preparing for and during surgical procedures, including preparing surgery packs, scalpel blades, and suture material, and monitoring patients using an anesthetic machine.Serve as a scrubbed surgical assistant.Apply knowledge of preventive care, disease prevention, and veterinary care to provide individualized wellness counseling to clients.Prepare and administer vaccinations and medications as prescribed by the veterinarian.Continuously inform medical staff of changes in the general condition of patients during surgical procedures.Prepare and dispense prescription medication according to veterinarian instructions.Assist clients in solving common husbandry problems.Assist the facility in obtaining local credentialing for surgical, anesthetic, dental, and diagnostic procedures as required by patient load and clinic staffing.Requirements:Conditions of Employment:Qualifications:Animal Health Assistant (Full Performance), NF-03: A minimum of six (6) months demonstrated experience directly related to the duties required in the position that must have been gained through practical application in a Veterinary Medical setting, demonstrating the knowledge, clinical skills, and abilities essential for successful performance in accordance with AVMA guidelines.Demonstrated experience includes:Proficiency in basic medical terminology.Utilization of correct sterile techniques.Application of appropriate restraint techniques for routine medical and diagnostic procedures.Proficiency in recording medical history and treatment in ccSOAP format.Explanation of product information and/or treatment plans to clients as directed by the Veterinarian.Determination of preventive wellness plans based on patient medical history.Utilization of in-house laboratory equipment for diagnostics tests.Routine maintenance of in-house laboratory equipment.Preparation of samples for shipment to outside laboratories.Best Qualified: Possess or have the ability to reactivate/obtain a registration, license, or certification as a veterinary assistant or higher through an accredited program.
Basic supply management experience, including ordering supplies, maintaining stock levels, and completing monthly inventory counts.Education:Additional Information:The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S.
