The Anatomic Pathologist will report directly to his/her/their Assistant Director of Anatomic Pathology. Anatomic Pathologists in this position interpret biopsies and generate accurate reports in a timely manner, making clinicopathologic correlations useful to clinicians.
We are looking for a 6 month contract to start with.
What are we looking for? Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent Board certification or eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP) required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent teamwork skills and work effectively with clients and management Analytical and problem solving skills Passion for helping animals and people Strong organization skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to prioritize tasks Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and management Ability to work independently, including remotely, using various platforms to stay connected with colleagues, clients, and management Experience with dictation software, especially Dragon Medical Practice Edition, a plus Fluency in Spanish English and/or Portuguese is a plus What will be your key responsibilities?Produce pathology reports according to current Antech best practices including microscopic description, microscopic findings, comments, and citing references when appropriate.Finalized or preliminary reports will be released in a prescribed format (i.e. synoptic report, Antech Onychopathology Advisory Panel case summaries) in compliance with the deadlines required by the service (exceptions will be made on an individual basis).Achieve reading 50% of case load by 3 months from start dateConsult with colleagues, clients, Antech associates, and other medical/ scientific professionals via phone, email, digital pathology software, and Internet-based video conferencingParticipate in Antech Anatomic Pathology conferences, seminars, and rounds using Internet-based video conferencingAssist lab personnel in conjunction with specimen processing as neededParticipate in digital pathology consultations with other Antech pathologistsEngage in continuing education to stay current on new knowledge, methods, and standards as pertains to diagnostic veterinary pathologyParticipate in internal Quality ControlContribute to the training of veterinary students, interns, and residents as interest and time allowComplete other duties as assigned, relevant to Anatomic Pathology, Antech, and Mars Veterinary HealthThe employee will work remotely from a home office setup of their choosing. Computers, monitors, microphone, and video camera will be provided. Some work in the laboratory with formalin-fixed and fresh tissue specimens with OSHA approved vented hoods may be needed on occasion.
The employee will be required to use a computer, digital slides, software, email, phone, voice recognition software, spreadsheets, data base management, and the Internet including video conferencing. Reading glass slides may be needed on occasion. The employee may be required to use a fax and copy machine.
