Job OverviewRINA is currently recruiting for a Marine Surveyor to join its office in Gijon or in the area of Gijon within the Marine South West Europe Region Division.
MissionA surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine assets. The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards.
Key AccountabilitiesActs as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related Rules, Regulations, requirements, concepts, principles and processes.Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed.Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility.Maintains active awareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities.Recommends new approaches to problems encountered.Performs routine surveys on classed ships, platforms or other marine structures and at manufacturers' sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.Engages in contact with clients to solve problems within area of expertise.QualificationsFormal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Nautical School.2 years professional experience, either as surveyor or as owner superintendent, shipyard quality control inspector or as a STCW Officer (on board of merchant ships).Young motivated candidates without previous experience will also be considered.Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage.Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and weather conditions.Willingness to travel.Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment and safety systems of ships.Fluent English language, both spoken and written.Good communication skills.Ability to work alone, in a team and on tight schedules.Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate.Pro-active customer focused approach.About RINAWith over 5,600 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player which provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision and vendor inspection, training and engineering consultancy services across a wide range of sectors.
