PepsiCo is looking for Agro West Europe Capability & Sustainability Lead to join in one of locations: Vitoria, Spain; Dublin, Ireland or Geneva, Switzerland.
Job Purpose
A Global Agriculture function has been formed to maximize our scale for the biggest bets and build critical capabilities to drive progress against our strategic potato agenda. Key to this delivery, are the following strategic objectives:
Develop & manage global strategic partnerships to accelerate scaled innovation across business.
Build key playbooks to enable "lift and shift" collaboration and leverage Global best practices.
Drive standardization and scale of proven (best) practices across PepsiCo while identifying and securing the investments and strategic partnerships across local markets required for the future.
The purpose of this new role will be to work with the Global team and across West Europe Agronomy team / farmers to integrate these Global partnerships and Best Practices through locally relevant adaption to deliver accelerated potato productivity and reduce current high barriers of entry for new, local farmers through improved crop resilience, grower livelihoods whilst driving accelerated adoption of Pep+ vision. By accelerating adoption of best in class practices, this role will generate additional PEP shareholder value and economic growth through improved availability of local potatoes whilst preserving natural resources, contributing to developing communities and striving to reduce our overall environmental impact.
Responsibilities
Lead interface with Global Agriculture and West Europe / BU Sustainability teams
Establish strong network and be primary partner of Global Agriculture Capability & Global Solutions Lead, Global Implementation Lead and Seed Lead to adapt and deploy locally relevant global programs across West Europe. Scope: Provide key support in the development of detailed launch plans, trial protocols and implementation plans of Global priority programs including specific implementations across Ag Tech, Seed pipelines, New Variety ramp-up, model farms and pep+ initiatives. Engage local farmers and take lead in deployment across West Europe including tracking and reporting delivery against mutually agreed goals.
Regen Ag / PEP+ Agriculture Strategy
Working across Global Team, Europe Agro Best Practice lead and West Europe BU Agro leads, provide thought leadership and integrate transformational PEP+ Agriculture 2025 & 2030 goal delivery strategies across EP Direct Agro categories covering total spend of US$ 0.25B to achieve PEP+ Agriculture goals of (a) Reducing water use by 15% in high water risk areas by 2025 / GHG reduction of 40% by 2030 vs baseline 2015 and (b) Delivery of Regen Ag targets for Direct Agro in Europe. Scope: Transformational programs including development and deployment of next gen Irrigation tools, Next Gen irrigation systems, Ultra Low Carbon fertilizer transition incl. Nutrient Use Efficiency tools, application rate program, farmer training and deployment of next-gen fertilizers, LCA carbon assessment of new fertilizers, alignment with GHG footprinting standards (incl. Cool Farm Alliance / CFT).
Grower engagement and platforms
Develop platform, maintain content and develop / implement engagement strategies to facilitate the successful launch and operation of West Europe Agro Virtual Grower Network and Virtual Innovation Farms – to include the ability for growers to share content, support growers to develop content and host peer-to-peer learning sessions to showcase Regen Ag practices and encourage best practices.
Baseline, analytics and performance dashboards
Leverage existing crop monitoring / databases to develop specific Regen Ag metrics, baselines and ability to track year on year progress against key PEP goals.
PSP & AOP process
Provide thought leadership, consolidate, & update PEP+ Agricultural goal delivery strategies across GPE Agro capturing measurable goals, timelines and financial impacts to West BUs. Coordinate input data for PSP financial process every year with PEP+ strategies and financial inputs. Support GPE Agro & Best Practices lead in presenting PEP+ Agro strategies to Europe / Global Sustainability team, GPE MSO/LT, PPGA and Coms teams, BU LTs. Lead development of pep+ Glidepaths for West Europe.
PEP+ Networking & Regen Ag COE
Facilitate engagement and development of aligned strategies on internal Regen Ag / PEP+ Agriculture and external Sustainability / Ag topics for EP Agro including various cross functional, commercialization teams across West Europe. Be the go to person for West Europe Agriculture especially for Regen Ag, EU Green Deal, GVT Incentives, Environmental Land Management Act (UK), Biodiversity, Ag greenhouse gas reduction, Waste-Based Fertilizers, carbon sequestration & insetting scheme subject areas with external & internal perspectives, new developments & impacts, solutions.
Coaching & knowledge building
Lead development & rolling out of Regen Ag / PEP+ Agriculture knowledge development & tools to engage & empower all GPE Agro team to help them effectively strategize and execute against PEP+ / Regen Ag goals.
Qualifications
Deep Agricultural, crop-level expertise required to influence farmers. Further Education qualifications relevant to business application. Ideally Master Degree in Agricultural Science or similar Sustainability qualification.
High level of Computer literacy (PowerPoint, Excel and Tableau; Ability to navigate & exploit Internet, interrogate Oracle and other business applications).
At least 10 years working in Agriculture or Supply Chain with a high degree of agronomic job content.
Specific potato experience and agronomy experience highly preferred.
Ideally on the professional register for BASIS and FACTS (or local equivalent).
Excellent analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate with all levels of the PepsiCo Organisation's and suppliers.
Ability to work alone and take initiative. Identify potential roadblocks and profile them to Management for clarification and resolution. Manage and execute projects in a timely manner. Ability to prioritise.
Demonstrably powerful influencer. Passionate about Agriculture and Regen Ag and experience of delivering transformational agenda.
Available to travel internationally up to 40-50% of time.
Dutch & English fluent, (French/Spanish/Polish is a plus).
