Agricultural Underwriter

MAPFRE RE, professional reinsurer of the MAPFRE Group and one of the leading reinsurers in the world, is currently looking for an Agricultural Underwriter in Madrid, Spain.
This position requires willingness to learn, as well as strong analytical, organizational and negotiation skills.
Reporting to the Global Head of Agriculture in Madrid, he/she will have to analyze business submissions from the assigned agricultural insurance markets, maintain updated about legislative developments as well as meteorological and climatic events affecting insured crops.
Being a team player is key.
What You'll Do Analysis of information, insurance and reinsurance conditions.
Analysis of insured portfolios.
Tracking of losses, yield forecasts, weather reports.
Visiting market(s), client(s), broker(s) as well as representing the Agricultural Department of MAPFRE RE at market events.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in agricultural engineering, agricultural science, agricultural economy or similar.
OR bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, actuarial science or similar with affinity for agriculture and the rural environment.
Business fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English is required.
Any other spoken and written language will be valued.
A strong affinity for numbers, strong analytical skills and proactive attitude.
Ability to work in interdisciplinary and international teams.

Independent and structured way of working.
Strong competency in Microsoft Office Excel.
