POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Data Analyst at Urban Science manages data that is used in products and services that Urban Science sells to its customers. That data comes from diverse sources, clients, venders and technologies, and requires considerable processing and integration to deliver the insights that are beneficial to our customers. A Data Analyst has a high level of responsibility to ensure the data processing results in a quality level that meets the needs of the business functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, develop and deliver data related projects within prescribed time schedule
Manage Urban Science client databases, extract and manipulate data utilizing Urban Science proprietary software and commercial tooling
Ad hoc and ongoing processing of data
Data profiling and anomaly detection
Automate and create efficiencies in data processing
Assume responsibility for quality of data on assigned projects
Create and generate data reports and deliverables
Tier 2 and general system support functions
Manage access control into data processing systems
Ensuring data confidentiality and regulatory compliance
Qualifications - Education and Experience:
High level of ownership for tasks and project level responsibilities
Exceptional oral communication skills necessary to express ideas clearly to individuals and groups, including clients in multiple countries and languages (English required as common language)
Written communication skills necessary to effectively communicate ideas in a clear, concise manner at a level appropriate for the audience
Ability to prioritize to competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities
Team oriented, with strong collaboration skills
Stakeholder relationship management
College level math skills and solid mathematical grounding required
Statistical analysis & analytical thinking
Knowledge of relational database fundamentals, including creating and executing SQL queries, creating scripts, importing/exporting data, and manipulating data
Ability to collect, analyze, interpret data results
Identification of patterns and trends in data sets
Data wrangling and cleansing
Root cause analysis and problem-solving for data incidents
Ability to select tools for data processing improvements
Time Management: Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple concurrent tasks
Project Management: Basic understanding of project management principles and fundamentals
Budgeting/Finance: Ability to gather cost information and assist in making cost estimates
Verbal Communication: Ability to compose and verbally deliver information of varying levels, using appropriate grammar, tone, inflection and non-verbal cues, while also listening to and correctly deciphering verbal communication delivered by others
Written Communication: Ability and capacity to communicate ideas, facts and data in writing using appropriate grammar, syntax and sentence structure
Analytical Thinking: Ability to understand a situation by breaking it apart into smaller pieces, and/or tracing the implications of a situation in a step-by-step way
