JOB DESCRIPTION The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) seeks a qualified Superior Laboratory Technician to support research projects focused on infectious diseases using Drosophila melanogaster as a model organism.
The candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team and contribute to experiments involving genetics, microbiology, and molecular biology techniques.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance and genetic manipulation of Drosophila stocks. Support ongoing projects focused on understanding host-pathogen interactions. Perform molecular biology and microbiological assays. Document and analyze experimental data, ensuring accurate records of research activities. Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE University degree in biology, biotechnology, biomedicine, or a related field. Fluency in Catalan, Spanish, and English. Proven experience working with Drosophila melanogaster in a laboratory setting. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage laboratory workflows effectively. Previous work in infectious diseases research. Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR) and fly genetics. WHAT WE OFFER Indefinite contract (contrato indefinido por actividades científico-técnicas, ley de la ciencia 14/2011). Start date: January 2025. Gross annual remuneration based on experience and skills, distributed in 12 payments. Flexible payment (childminding vouchers). 23 days holiday and 5 days for personal matters + 2 days for Easter + 2 days for Christmas. Training capsules by the company.
