Offer Description TWEED Project
TWEED is looking for 12 talented and motivated Doctoral Candidates (DCs) to advance the field of digitalisation within the wind energy sector.
The "Training Wind Energy Experts on Digitalisation (TWEED)" Doctoral Network (DN) aims to train the next generation of excellent researchers equipped with the skills to develop high-impact careers in wind energy digitalisation.
Co-funded by the European Commission through the Horizon Europe Marie Sklodowska Curie Doctoral Networks Programme, the TWEED network offers 12 Doctoral Candidates (DCs) positions to provide high-level training in Wind Energy Data Science and Digitalisation.
DCs will participate in a unique training programme that combines hands-on research training, interactive schools, hackathons, innovation management, and placements with industry partners. The research programme includes the development of a Wind Energy Data Science Hub to foster collaboration and data sharing.
DCs are expected to i) conduct high-quality, original academic research in Wind Energy, Digitalisation, Data Science, and Computer Science, ii) participate in planned training-dissemination activities, iii) collaborate with fellow researchers to promote the network's objectives.
Two DC positions are available at Instituto ENERGAIA, University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR) within the TWEED project:

Brief description of the project: This project will analyze European balancing markets and develop a framework for bidding strategies for wind farms. It will utilize machine learning and probabilistic techniques to maximize benefits and reduce risks.

Brief description of the project: This project will develop a prognosis tool for preventive maintenance of wind turbines using explainable machine learning techniques.

Proficient in English.
Master's degree or equivalent obtained by the time of appointment.
Specific Requirements
A master or equivalent degree in Engineering.
A strong background in wind energy is a plus.
Excellent programming skills.
Excellent writing and communication skills in English.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural team and independently.
Must fulfill the requirements for PhD program admission at the Doctoral School of the University of Zaragoza.
Languages ENGLISH Level Excellent
Additional Information Work under a 36-month employment contract with competitive salary conditions set by the MSCA Doctoral Networks (DN).
Living Allowance of €3250/month .
Mobility allowance of €600/month.
Family allowance of €660/month depending on family status.
Flexible working hours will be offered to DCs whenever feasible.
The TWEED network promotes the participation of under-represented groups in technical careers.
Selection Process Candidates will be assessed based on academic profile, motivation, relevant background, and skills. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed.
