For our headoffice in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, we are currently looking for a Chief Engineer. The Chief Engineer is responsible to ensure the daily efficient operation and maintenance of all technical equipment and the physical condition of the premises. The role oversees the maintenance team, schedules the daily activities and manages capital projects. Chief Engineer ensures compliance with health & safety, and local and international regulatory standards. The Chief Engineer also collaborates with other departments to support the hotel's overall goals of guest satisfaction, profitability and cost efficiency. Main Tasks & Responsibilities: - Hire, lead, train and provide guidance to the engineering team, fostering a work environment of continuous learning and improvement, and ensuring the team operates effectively and collaboratively. - Develop mid and long term targets and encourage team members to reach their targets. - Oversee the maintenance, repair and optimization of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within the hotel, acting promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to uphold guest satisfaction. - Coordinate renovation projects, collaborating with all departments, respecting the budget and overseeing each project to completion. - Ensure the initially defined scope and design of the renovation has been reached. - Prepare PIP's for the properties. - Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime, extend equipment lifespan, H&S; measures are on track and ensure optimal performance. - Conduct regular inspections of the hotel's facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and opportunities for improvement. - Coordinate with external contractors, suppliers, and vendors for specialized repairs, installations, and upgrades, in compliance with company's policies and regulations. - Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards governing building operations, equipment and systems. - Monitor utility consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact. - Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in energy management and sustainability. - Develop and manage the engineering department budget, including labor, materials, and equipment expenses. Prepare ad hoc reports and documents for the management team. - Monitor activity logs, expenditures and utility consumptions and implement cost-saving measures to optimize resources and achieve budget targets. - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment inventory. - Follow the company sustainability standards and ensure all activities are matching with the standards. - Collaborate with Chief Engineers of other company hotels to reach the Hotels targets with the leadership of the Head of Engineering or direct manager. - Create a safe working place for the maintenance team, as well as the entire hotel staff. - Ensure the staff housings and recreation areas are kept in good condition.
