.RINA is currently recruiting for a Vigo Survey Station Marine Surveyor to join its office in Vigo within the Marine South-West Europe Region Division.MissionA surveyor in a classification society plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety, compliance, and quality of ships and marine structures.The main responsibilities are aimed at verifying that vessels meet international and classification society standards.Key AccountabilitiesActs as a professional specialist for the organization in the application of related Rules, Regulations, requirements, concepts,principles and processes; Prepares technically accurate and timely reports of inspections and surveys performed; Maintains survey files in an orderly and up-to-date manner in area of responsibility; Maintain activeawareness of new working methods and developments affecting the technical scope of assigned responsibilities; Recommends new approaches to problems encountered; Performs routine surveys on classed ships, platforms or other marine structures and at manufacturers sites for compliance with classification and statutory requirements, under the guidance and supervision of a Surveyor or Senior Surveyor or Principal Surveyor.QualificationsFormal qualification in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or Marine Engineer; 2 years professional experience are preferred, either as surveyor or as owner superintendent or as shipyard quality control inspector or as a Chief Engineer (on board of merchant ships); No previous professional experience candidates will also be considered; Previous experience as a surveyor of IACS Classification Societies would be a significant advantage; Physically ableto work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and weather conditions, etc. and therefore being not suffering from allergies, vertigo,claustrophobia, etc; Willingness to travel; Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment and safety systems of ships; Fluent English language, both spoken and written; Good communication skills; Ability to workalone, in a team and on tight schedules; Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate; Pro-active customer focused approach; LI-MP5With over 5,300 employees and 200 offices in 70 countries worldwide, RINA is a multinational player which provides certification, marine classification, product testing, site supervision and vendor inspection, training and engineering consultancy services across a wide range of sectors.Our business model covers the full process of project development, from concept to completion.
