We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tooling Engineer to join our dynamic team.
As a Tooling Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of production processes, ensuring that our tools and systems deliver high-quality automotive parts in line with customer requirements and company standards.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, and manufacturing to drive continuous improvement and maintain excellence in production.
Key Responsibilities: Tool Specification: Collaborate with the product design team to gather input data and define technical specifications for production tools.
Act as the technical correspondent for tool suppliers.
Process Definition & Improvement: Manage the definition of production processes, ensuring the tools and systems are optimized to meet geometric and quality standards.
Propose and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
Project Management: Follow up on tool development from initial studies through to final acceptance and installation in production.
Oversee validation processes, including pre-acceptance validation and tool qualification at supplier facilities.
Documentation & Standards: Prepare, maintain, and ensure the integrity of technical documentation related to tooling and processes.
Apply and adhere to Group standards.
Production Support: Provide ongoing technical support to ensure tools are capable of producing parts at the required quality levels.
Address issues in production and collaborate with engineering teams for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Process Validation: Conduct process validation and maturity assessments during the introduction of new tools.
Ensure smooth integration of new equipment and technologies into production lines.
Quality Assurance: Support plant quality teams in problem-solving related to production tools, ensuring compliance with customer and internal specifications.
Data Collection & Analysis: Collect data from production lines to analyze process performance.
Utilize process data to drive continuous improvements in efficiency and reliability.
Supplier Coordination: Work with external suppliers to ensure proper tool qualification and adherence to specifications.
Oversee tool releases and ensure timely delivery of projects according to production schedules.
Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives for process optimization, including updating indicators, conducting weekly reviews, and driving improvement actions using methodologies such as PDCA.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
3+ years of experience in tooling engineering, preferably in the automotive industry.
Proven experience in process definition, validation, and optimization in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with Product Data Management (PDM) systems and documentation standards.
Experience with tooling design, qualification, and validation, including geometric and quality requirement assessments.
Strong knowledge of quality management standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., PDCA, Six Sigma).
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with suppliers, design teams, and production.
