The Student Engagement Assistant position aims to aid in all aspects of the Student Life department, especially in event creation and student interaction. The selected person will be tasked with the administrative elements of Student Life events, projects, and activities (sign-up lists and updates, mailing, event reminders, communication, reservations, payments, etc.).The Student Engagement Assistant will support the department's cultural programming, event coordination, and student face-to-face interaction (especially with the growing number of student leader positions), as well as administrative tasks and projects as we intersect with the Academic Department, the city, and the multiple cohorts of incoming upper-class and LS students.The aim is to distribute the duties and responsibilities of the department more efficiently through administrative support, event handling, and day-to-day work entailed in this position as the student cohorts grow larger and more complex each semester.Qualifications:Required EducationBA degree in appropriate fields (Higher Studies, Social Studies, Tourism, Cultural Management, Public Relations)Required ExperienceExperience in American higher education, preferably in a study abroad program, or any other international educational experience (Erasmus, TA abroad, Professor abroad, etc.)Experience in event creation and management.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesFluency in Spanish and English (written and oral)Excellent transcultural and interpersonal communication skillsAn understanding of student development issues in post-secondary education and study abroad challengesStrong ability to prioritize and multitaskAdvanced knowledge of media production programs (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, etc.) as well as Microsoft systems and programs including Word, Excel, and Google WorkspaceAbility to film, photograph, and edit during eventsHigh ability to lead and work in a team as well as to develop ideas independently and encourage proactive suggestions from within the organizationAbility to organize and execute socio-cultural and academic events for up to 100 participantsExperience in producing and editing texts in English (such as handbooks, newsletters, etc.)Preferred EducationB.A. in Higher Studies, Education, Tourism, Cultural Management, Public Relations, Cultural Studies, or related fields preferred.Preferred ExperienceExperience in study abroad, international exchange, student services, or residential education preferred.Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards.Additional Information:Must possess eligibility to work in Spain (or EU).The University is an equal opportunity employer committed to equity, diversity, and social inclusion.
