A vacancy for a *Space Thermal Control Engineer * (M/F) has arisen within Airbus DS Space Systems Spain in Getafe (Madrid). The successful applicant will join the Thermal Systems and Products Spain Engineering Team, to lead the Thermal engineering aspects of the space projects under development in Madrid for Earth Observation, Navigation and Science, and Telecommunications satellites.
This team is part of the transnational Thermal Systems and Space Physics group. The team is proud to be diverse, united, and technically skilled.
The mission of the Thermal Systems and Products Spain Engineering Team is:
to drive the thermal engineering aspects of the development of the space systems designed and integrated in Airbus DS Space Systems Spain (both in the Barajas plant, and in the new Carpetania plant in Getafe), such as complete satellites, satellite payloads and instruments, satellite platforms and satellite and launchers equipments.
to coordinate with other Thermal Engineering groups within Airbus DS, to harmonize and to standardize the engineering work, and to prepare road-maps for the systems and products evolution.
to impulse the participation in R&D activities, to review the technical results, and to promote the implementation of the newly developed solutions within projects.
to coordinate with other functions within Airbus DS Space Systems Spain (Programmes, Product Assurance, Procurement, AIT) to ensure an on-time, on-quality and on-cost delivery of all the products, according to the Customer expectations and our commitments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
to lead the Thermal design and development, including analysis and test verification, of the systems and equipments under your assignment.
to plan and to organize the thermal design and analysis activities at project level to ensure compliance with technical requirements, project schedule and cost targets.
to coordinate with other project engineers to establish the product environment, and to ensure a proper development of the product.
to manage the subcontractors under your scope (e.g. thermal hardware), to ensure their deliveries on-time, on-quality and on-cost.
to interface and provide support to Customer, Project Management, Chief Engineering, AIT Management, and other project functions, to ensure a smooth product development according to the Customer expectations and our commitments.
to ensure the coherence of the work delivered by maintaining standardized processes, and to align the processes and working methodologies with other Airbus DS engineering entities.
to push towards innovation and efficiency and cost-oriented mindset within the team.
to lead and to promote R&D activities related to the thermal engineering field, in coordination with other Airbus DS thermal engineering entities.
to take part in the preparation of technical proposals for the thermal engineering activities.
SKILLS
minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the space thermal engineering field
ample knowledge of thermal control design solutions, including manufacturing and assembly limitations: MLIs, coatings, heating systems, 2-phase systems
experience in taking products through their life cycle processes, with particular emphasis on design to cost and design-to-AIT
ample experience with related software (ESATAN-TMS, SYSTEMA, DOORS)
drive for continuous improvement in all aspects of work
able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment
proactive attitude towards knowledge sharing
able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail
creativity and problem-solving skills
strong written & oral communication skills (English and Spanish are mandatory)
