Role(s) Required: Sr. Systems Admin Location: Remote (anywhere in Canada/USA/South America , but must be able to work on EST with the Canadian team) Required Start Date: ASAP Required End Date: 12 months renewable every year Type: Contract Total Hours Approved Per Role: 40h/week Rate: the max. Salary will be $4k USD/mth On T4 or C2C (5,478.90 CAD) Client Location: US/Canada Summary: Reporting directly to the CTO and managing of the Systems department. Role: o responsibility over systems and networks. o Work directly with the Development Team Leads and Project Management in managing projects for the website and provide final sign-off/approval for release to production. o Working directly with Senior Management, participate in planning and project discussions for various websites. o Analyze and assess areas of risk to systems and recommend/implement changes as appropriate to the business. o Continuously assess network and systems security, ensuring a high level of systems data security is maintained overall. Report concerns directly to the CTO. o Perform systems and network architectural design for the sites network, including capacity planning, hardware, infrastructure, software integration, OS and software performance tuning. o Act as single point of escalation of production issues, interfacing with required resources to see issues are resolved in a timely manner. o Effectively manage risk, including monitoring, system redundancy and backups based on business requirements and acceptable risk. o Provide technical assistance and consultation as required to all areas of the company, including Project Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, Accounting, Customer Service, Development and Systems departments. o Perform special tasks and projects company-wide, as assigned by the CTO. Responsibilities: o Provide mentoring and technical assistance to Systems Administration staff on a day-to-day basis, as required. o Lead as role model behavior consistent with verbal directives. o Provide feedback for performance reviews for Technical and Development staff and the various websites. o Facilitate problem solving and collaboration, ensure discussions and make decisions that lead toward closure, intervene when necessary to aid the team in resolving issues. o Be part of on-call rotation (12pm 8pm EST, 1-week duration every 4 weeks). o Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements: o 5 years of experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) o Must be well versed supporting web servers o Strong background with storage SAN (NFS and iSCSI) o Well versed with ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash) o Adding/removing nodes, expand clusters, rebuilt clusters, , use InfluxDB o TCP/IP knowledge BGF and OSPF o Hands-on experience working with Linux in a Systems Administrative role o Hands-on experience working with Advanced Network Administrative role including routing, switching and security o Exceptional problem determination and creative problem solving skills o Strong written and verbal skills o Strong understanding of software development lifecycle o Strong documentation and organizational practices o Extensive experience with many of these: o MySQL, maintenance and troubleshooting o LAN/WAN/VPN setup and troubleshooting o Linux-based and other firewall technology o Cloud technologies (OpenStack, oVirt, RHEV or similar) o Baremetal hardware, SAN, Switching and Load-balancing o Backup technologies o Systems security o Automation systems (Ansible, Puppet or equivalent) o Expertise with multiple Web technologies including but not limited to: HTTP, SSL, DNS and SMTP protocols.
