The Polaris Distributed Query Processor team within Fabric Data Warehouse is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help us develop the next generation of features, propelling the component into its next evolutionary stage. Polaris is a cloud-native, highly scalable query processor that facilitates analytics over structured data at petabyte scale. It boasts built-in Workload Management capabilities, and we aim to make the management of complex multi-query workloads fully autonomous. ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for engineers to lead the development of the core components of the cloud Data Warehouse that powers SQL analytics in Azure compute. You will work in areas related to distributed query processing to build an elastic and scalable cloud Data Warehouse and enable Tier1 enterprise workloads in Azure Data Lake. We are looking for passionate people with experience in working with all service aspects of high throughput and multi-tenant services, ability to design components carefully, properly handle errors, write clean and well-factored code with good tests and good maintainability.
Your core responsibilities would include:
Design and develop highly reliable and scalable distributed systems.End to end ownership of features, in terms of design, development, testing, deployment and telemetry as well as live site mitigations and hotfixes.Participate in design and roadmap discussions.Working closely with team members to unblock each other and share learnings and knowledge.QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical fieldAdvanced technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Other Requirements Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications Seasoned years of experience building commercial grade, robust scalable solutionsExperience developing Cloud online services or extensive experience using cloud online services.Experience in Distributed Big Data systems is a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
