Descripción The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ISGlobal is seeking a Research Technician who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project EPHOR, in one of the work packages aiming to investigate the effects of shift work on health by looking at short-term exposures. Effects of short-term exposures, in relation to the working life exposome, biological pathways, early markers of disease and key body functions will be assessed using external and internal exposome data. The candidate will give support to the field work of the EPHOR project, and support for sample and data management.
The EPHOR project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 874703.




TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS Degree in Biomedical Sciences Fluent in spoken and written Spanish Fluent in spoken and written English Experience in field work of epidemiological studies Experience in sample management KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Manage the scheduling of data collection for participants in the study, manage the allocation of sensors and the prompt collection of these sensors after their use, manage biologic sample transport and storage, and maintain close communication between the field centers and researchers at ISGlobal.




SPECIFIC DUTIES Contact the potential study participants by phone. Preparation of materials and devices for measurements. Visit to the participants' workplace to:

Oversee survey completion Distribute, describe and model appropriate sensor use Pick up sensor devices Oversee biologic specimen collection Blood processing (centrifugation and aliquoting) Download data from sensor devices Prepare materials for shipment to the laboratory Communicate closely with management at the field study locations and with the study team at ISGlobal

SELECTION PROCESS The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be pass. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
