We are in search of a Product Technologist to join the Africa Technical team to support R&D; design and development projects including tooling and fixtures to meet corporate objectives.
The role holder will perform variety of duties that requires creativity and innovation, participate in the areas of material control and flow.
The main responsibilities will be :
- Prepare prototype for the new product, shelf-life study , lab trials and formulation tweaking as per guidelines.
- Ensure accurate sample preparation (weigh, measure, data record keeping)
- Operate lab / kitchen and plant equipment
- Development of cost-effective recipe in view of market or business demand.
- Support upscaling from pilot scale and transfer to industrialization
- Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment and practices
- Document experiments and results in Laboratory notebooks with full traceability.
- Establish an efficient network in the factory, in alignment with the correspondent factory partner
- Perform chemistry analysis (pH, salt, Aw, moisture, fat, protein and Ash) on finished product
- Provide assistance with microbiological testing of environmental swabs, raw materials, and finished products
- Contribute to product development and the establishment and implementation of processing activities, including safety, in the Technical center Laboratory, Pilot Plant, Sensory room.

- Graduate degree in Food Science,
Food Process or Agricultural Engineering
- 1- 3 years' experience in R&D; and laboratory applications environment, ingredient selection, standardization and formulation management and product development projects preferably in Culinary sector
- Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and QA / QC requirements
- Availability to travel up to 10% internationally
- PC skills : Knowledge in SAP and standard MS Office and project management software.
- Languages : Excellent knowledge of English is required; French is a plus.
