JOB DESCRIPTION Candidates are sought to apply for external funding for a position as a laboratory technician in the High Content Genomics and Bioinformatics Unit of the IGTP. If evaluated positively, you will join the unit to perform tasks related to supporting the execution of laboratory procedures based on next generation sequencing, microarray, and qPCR technologies.
The Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP) is a public research center located on the Can Ruti Biomedical Campus, Badalona, near Barcelona. The IGTP focuses its research on improving the care and life of patients. The institute is attached to one of the largest teaching hospitals in the Barcelona area, the Germans Trias i Pujol University Hospital (HUGTP), located on the surrounding biomedical Campus Can Ruti. The IGTP is a CERCA center; member of the biocluster supported and supervised by the Generalitat de Catalunya. It is also accredited as a Center of Excellence by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (Spanish Government) and, in this sense, acts as an umbrella organization for scientific research on campus, where it works closely with other centers located there.
Bioinformatics and, in particular, genomics is a research area shared by many research groups on the Can Ruti campus that make use of the services offered by the Unit.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Vocational training degree with a higher degree training cycle in laboratory technology.
2 years of experience in molecular biology.
Working knowledge of genomics techniques.
We will value prior experience in the use of robotic equipment.
Proficiency in English language and informatics.
WHAT WE OFFER Type of contract and working hours: 3 year, full-time contract (subject to obtaining funding through a competitive application).
Date of incorporation: After funding is awarded to the candidate (if awarded). Estimated: last quarter 2025.
Gross remuneration: Annual gross salary starting at 20,300 € distributed in 12 payments (provided funding is obtained, amounting to 15,600 € / year).
Flexible payment (childminding vouchers).
23 days holiday and 5 days for personal matters + 2 days for Easter + 2 days for Christmas.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Extraction and quality control of nucleic acids.
Next generation sequencing library preparation.
Processing of array hybridization experiments.

The candidate selected will be asked to write a funding application along with the head of the core facility, Dr. Lauro Sumoy.
