Context And Mission
The BSC participates in the Stratum project that aims to explore the use of multimodal data processing through Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms to support complex surgeries. Our mission is to analyze and characterize the performance of large-scale data analysis pipelines to propose novel algorithms and hardware accelerators. We seek a highly motivated postdoc interested in applied AI and bioinformatics algorithms and data structures.
Key Duties Research on acceleration of bioinformatics algorithms and AI-based data analysis pipelines using software and hardware optimization techniques. Investigate novel bioinformatics algorithms and data structures. Write scientific papers and actively engage in ongoing research lines and activities. Coordinate and attend project meetings, supervise MSc/PhD students, and manage research teams and project deliverables. Requirements Education
PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area. Publications in recognized computer science or bioinformatics conferences or journals. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
Strong background in algorithms, computer architecture, and performance analysis. Advanced skills in AI and bioinformatics algorithms and data structures. Expertise in C/C++ programming, performance engineering, and low-level optimizations. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience
Experience with HPC environments and applications. Experience with CUDA or FPGA programming is a plus but not essential. Experience with Python, R, and Matlab is a plus but not essential. Competences
Problem-solving, highly proactive, and result-oriented work attitude. Strong teamwork skills and capability to work with international partners. Strong communication skills, including proficiency in both written and verbal English. Exceptional team management skills and supervision of MSc/PhD research. Autonomy in researching and exploring new problems and lines of inquiry. Conditions Location: BSC within the Computer Sciences Department Full-time contract (37.5h/week), flexible working hours, and private health insurance. Duration: Open-ended contract linked to the project and budget duration. Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus additional days as per collective agreement.
