The CRG is composed by an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies. In April 2021, the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) received the renewal of the 'HR Excellence in Research' Award from the European Commission. This is a recognition of the Institute's commitment to developing an HR Strategy for Researchers, designed to bring the practices and procedures in line with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter and Code). We are looking for a candidate for the implementation and testing of catalytic activities. The candidate should set up and run enzyme assays for several enzyme variant designs. These enzymes are designs produced by the AI models we train in the lab. The candidate should have experience in expressing, purifying and measuring the activity of enzymatic families. About the lab The candidate will join an interdisciplinary research group at the forefront of AI-driven protein design and engineering. The team is highly collaborative, integrating computational scientists, experimental biologists, and biotechnologists to push the boundaries of synthetic biology and protein engineering. Whom would we like to hire? Professional experience Must Have
- Experience in protein expression and purification
- 1-2 years of wet lab experience (e.G. through internships and MSc thesis)
- Motivation and willingness to learn in a highly paced research field Desirable but not required/ Nice to have
- The willingness to hear and learn about AI models
- Experience in enzymatic assays
- Experience working in high-throughput regimes Education and training
- A master's degree in Biochemistry, Biocatalysis, Bioengineering or related field Languages
- Good command of English Technical skills
- MS Office skills
- Some knowledge about Linux
- Python knowledge is a plus (but not mandatory) Competences
- Good command of English
- Excellent organizational skills
