This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies in a dynamic and supportive environment.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct relay testing and full lifecycle commissioning of substations (15kV to 500kV)Perform system checks, wiring verification, and functional testing of protection equipmentTroubleshoot and analyze problems with relay and protection systems using tools like Doble protection, ProTest, and AcSELeratorExecute maintenance activities on substation equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, and relaysConduct preventive and corrective maintenance using a variety of testing equipment including multimeters, ohmmeters, circuit breaker analyzers, and moreTest and calibrate relays such as differential, overcurrent, ground directional, and transformer pressure relaysPerform inspections and create reports for substation operations, equipment loads, relay targets, and moreWork closely with commissioning engineers to check new installations and make necessary adjustmentsCarry out switching operations and follow safety protocols, reporting any abnormalitiesEnsure accurate documentation of all testing and maintenance activitiesEssential Skills and ExperienceAssociate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent education/experience3+ years of relay testing and substation commissioning experience (15kV to 500kV)Expertise in high-voltage systems, including switchgear installation and double-testing equipmentProficiency in SEL/GE relay systems and equipmentKnowledge of substation lightning stroke shielding and grounding plansFamiliarity with substation remote alarms and auxiliary equipmentStrong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and analyze protection systemsExperience with utility clients and leading technical meetingsAbility to drive and travel frequently to client utility sites across the U.S., with overnight staysExcellent verbal and written communication skillsOSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain, with company support for renewal)Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and WordAbility to work with small, delicate, and complex electrical equipment in a team or independentlyMust be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without need for sponsorshipWillingness to join a union (excellent benefits provided)BenefitsComprehensive health benefits, including dental and visionRelocation assistance for qualified candidatesOpportunities for overtime payUnion membership with excellent benefitsProfessional development and growth opportunities within the companyPaid time off and holidaysApplication ProcessWe invite applications from skilled electrical professionals looking to advance their careers in substation technology.
