Your missionThe Department Chair at Schiller is responsible for leading a specific area of STEM knowledge across campuses. This individual is expected to provide support to faculty assignments, program review and revision, curricular, syllabi and course content evaluation, quality assurance, assessing the mastery of learning objectives, ensuring compliance with US, local and dual degree criteria, improving pedagogy and teaching and learning methodologies, and leading research and/or innovation projects among the faculty. The Department Chair is expected to work collaboratively with the Academic Deans of all Campuses, Program Leads, Head of Educational Technology, Faculty, Academic Leadership, and Student Services to facilitate the academic excellence and attractiveness of programs.
Your profileLead the regular review of programs within the designated area(s) of knowledge and facilitate improvement plans if needed.Collaborate with Registrars on faculty assignments in coordination with Academic Deans.Participate in the evaluation of full-time and part-time faculty members in annual performance evaluations in conjunction with the Dean(s) and Provost.Participate in the review and assessment of program and course Learning Outcomes within their area(s) of knowledge.Engage actively in innovation within the area(s) of knowledge, updating teaching and learning methodologies and educational technology in conjunction with the Head of Technology.Conduct course observations as needed, both online or onsite.Lead faculty development initiatives alongside the Provost.Lead in implementing active methodologies in relationships with real professionals from the industry and organizations in order to increase student employability.Lead and promote research among faculty members within specific areas of knowledge.Coordinate with the Compliance Director to ensure compliance of programs within the area(s) of knowledge.Coordinate with the Director of Institutional Effectiveness for quality assurance in all programs in their department as well as for Employability.Collaborate in trainings to enhance program awareness and understanding.Coordinate with the Dean of students to oversee Student Career and Employability plans and assure their implementation.Engage in teaching when required.Any other duties assigned by the Academic Dean, Provost, or Campus Director Position requirementsAn earned Doctorate degree from an accredited institutionProven experience and demonstrated excellence in higher education and administrationKnowledge in online instruction Academic program design and reviewAcademic program design and reviewExcellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.Either native English speaker or proficiency level of English competency.Local language (French, German, Spanish) will be desirable.
