Offer Description
At AMADE (Analysis and Advanced Materials for Structural Design), we are a research group at the University of Girona (UdG) internationally recognized for our leadership in innovation and scientific excellence. Our mission is to develop advanced solutions in strategic sectors such as civil engineering, aeronautics, automotive, and emerging fields like sustainable construction and materials. Our team, ranked among the top 2% most cited researchers worldwide by Stanford University, leads European projects and collaborates with renowned global companies and institutions.
One of our key research areas is the study of Fibre Reinforced Polymers (FRP) for reinforcing and/or strengthening concrete structures.
With over 20 years of expertise in this field, AMADE is recognized as one of the leading international groups in the domain, actively contributing to renowned organizations such as Task Group 5.1 of the International Federation of concrete, fib, and the International Institute for FRP in Construction, IIFC.
A cornerstone of our work involves the comprehensive characterization of FRP materials, including understanding their bond behavior with concrete substrates, the flexural performance of concrete structures reinforced or strengthened with FRP, different anchoring solutions, and the long-term performance of these systems under various environmental and loading conditions.
At AMADE, we leverage advanced facilities for experimental testing and numerical modeling. Our capabilities include sophisticated techniques for structural testing of FRP-strengthened concrete, allowing us to evaluate critical aspects such as bond behavior, debonding mechanisms, and overall structural response.
We are looking for a motivated researcher with a PhD awarded between January 1st, 2023, and December 31st, 2024, to join our team. With our guidance, the selected candidate will be proposed for a contract funded by Spain's Juan de la Cierva program, with an AMADE senior researcher as an advisor.
Joining AMADE means being part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment where research drives real-world impact. Here, you will contribute to advancing key industries while engaging with a diverse range of topics, including simulation and numerical modeling, experimental testing, sustainability, 3D printing, and composite material innovations. This opportunity provides a platform to collaborate on groundbreaking projects, solve complex engineering problems, and shape the future of structural design and materials science.
