Main Purpose of Job: As non-traditional scholarly output gains importance in discovery and research evaluation, curation of content on the Web of Science platform by an expert team of in-house editors is a vital part of providing high-quality resources and tools to the research community. The Content Manager's primary responsibility is the identification, evaluation, acquisition, and onboarding of content from digital repositories for inclusion in appropriate Web of Science collections (the Data Citation Index and preprints index) using policies and criteria designed to select for high-quality content relevant to users of the product. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to further their knowledge of the publishing landscape and information services, and to contribute to the growth and curation of the Web of Science. Duties and responsibilities:
Identify and evaluate appropriate digital repositories (which can provide content including preprints, data sets, images, videos, and software) in a range of scientific disciplines.Liaise with the digital content community and repositories to facilitate gathering, inclusion, and licensing of content.Make use of metadata standards for resource type identification and metadata extraction.Own coverage-related decisions and ensure these are completed and clearly communicated according to defined KPIs.Negotiate with content providers to allow acquisition of appropriate content feeds for inclusion in Web of Science.Collaborate within the Web of Science editorial team to ensure efficiency and consistency of decision-making.Actively participate in team discussions about policy, process, and workflows.Keep up with developments in the industry that could influence editorial processes.Support colleagues as needed in ensuring a smooth handover from content selection to content indexing. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Required:
BSc. or equivalent in an STM or social sciences discipline.Familiarity with bibliographic policies, best practices, and the scholarly research/publishing process.Experience of relevant digital library standards, including JSON, XML, HTML, etc.Aware of/understanding of electronic literature databases.Good understanding of the internet and Web functionality.Native English or high level of English language proficiency.Highly customer-focused, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.Meticulous attention to detail, critical appraisal skills, and proven ability to take ownership of decisions.Strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills to consistently meet deadlines.Able to make data-driven decisions.Proactive in proposing solutions to problems.Flexible and able to embrace change.Able to work both as part of a team and under own initiative.Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Desirable:
Proficiency in a second language is desirable but not required.Experience of librarianship, information science or indexing/cataloguing skills would be an advantage. What We Can Offer You:
