Introduction to role:
As the Business Development External Relations Leader, you'll play a key role in delivering our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives. You will support the delivery of all prioritized external partnership support, ensuring flawless logistics to strengthen AstraZeneca's oncology R&D position and reach in the oncology pharmaceutical industry. This role involves close collaboration with the Business Development team and external C-suite executives.
What you'll do:
Support and own the end-to-end accountability to deliver on the prioritized external partnership and investor meetings (face-to-face/virtual/hybrid).
Lead all aspects of the external partner relationship life cycle.
Liaise with internal/external C-suite stakeholders, ensuring consistent, appropriate corporate presence to position AstraZeneca as a partner of choice within the industry.
Build and own project plans, handle attendees, logistics, event agendas, and provide on-site support.
Provide strong project management with effective communication and collaboration across all levels, both internal and external, with the ability to work across time zones (some early morning/late evenings or weekends will be required).
Be an active member of the Business Development Team to provide benchmarking, standard processes, and knowledge sharing.
Essential Skills/Experience:
5+ years' experience in roles with significant client/investor/board level engagement
5+ years' experience in delivering critical meetings in the US and overseas
Ability to work hours outside of the traditional workday hours
Demonstrated success in handling complex cross-matrix projects
Experience in leading budgets and PO processing/management
Logistics experience and knowledge of logistics planning systems
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Proficient in all Microsoft applications
Required Job Specific Knowledge & Skills:
Past experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, investor or private wealth/equity industries
Past experience in global congress and/or investor roadshow planning
Highly analytical, with strong organizational skills & social skills
Past experience handling complex matrix teams or processes
Demonstrated strong project management and communication skills with high intellectual capability, agility and adaptability
Motivated and results driven with a propensity for innovative thinking and developing efficient solutions
Enterprise mindset and focus; strong process skills and ability to work in a matrixed organization
Resourceful, decisive and proactive; must be able to handle multiple priorities
Sound judgment, high integrity with ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Ability to effectively lead stakeholder relationships at all levels within the organization
Desirable Skills/Experience:
High comfort level with interacting with senior leaders, ability to challenge decisions when appropriate
Ability to influence without authority and establish/maintain credibility with senior individuals/audiences
Past experience in global event management
