.PURPOSEThis position is responsible for the preparation and communication of the terminal berthing plan as determined in close cooperation with the vessel operators; balance priorities between connections, deadlines and required productivity levels.PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESCreate/maintain a master-berthing plan (Berth Performa) with ideal vessel placement positions considering forecasted volume, crane intensity, expected rates of production, yard utilization and connection requirements.Ensures that communications with the shipping lines regarding vessel berthing are clear and without error, coordinates the timely dispatch of vessels with the terminal and Marine OperatorInteract and communicate with vessel operators to ensure that berthing requests, production and productivity requirements are handled in a professional and efficient manner.Plan the required vessel berth production by assigning the right berth and number of cranes based on SLA targets and equipment/manning plan of the terminalMonitoring of vessel ETA progress for incoming and ETC for vessels alongsideAdjusting labor orders when there are drastic changes to ETA and ETC of vessels.Provide the resource management department with staffing requirements in sufficient time to place labor orders.Maintains vessel service rotation and unique vessel call information in the terminal operating system or berthing applicationUpdates the Vessel Berthing Plan regularly based on available new informationCommunicates/publishes this plan internally for the entire terminal and related external stakeholders as per the Berth Planner standard operating procedure.Notifies various departments of Vessel Berthing Request, so that pilots, mooring gang, positioning of quay cranes are scheduled appropriately.Ensures that required timely berth performance reports are generated in time as instructed in the Berth Planner SOP.Conducts post mortem reviews of vessel calls to assess and address areas of improvement.Identifies and suggest continuous improvement possibilities in the ways of working.Identifies and executes cost reduction OPS process within the team.REPORTING AND SCOPE Direct reportsNoneThe position reports to WMED APMT Berth Supervisor.The scope of the position is primarily local/domesticWORK/BUSINESS CONTACTS AND AUTHORITY Internal:Operations & other planning department staff on a constant basisDifferent Local operations Centers, Capacity-Marine-Equipment departments.Nature of contact is primarily sharedVessel OperatorsShipping LinesGovt. bodies like port authority, customs, etcNature of contact is primarily for giving & receiving information about the in/out vessel flow in the terminal.LEARNING & CAREER OPPORTUNITIESIn this position the incumbent will have a variety of learning opportunities to increment and acquire skills and knowledge in the following areas: Broad exposure to operational management in a container terminal
