We are revolutionizing the space industry with groundbreaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems.
Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which are essential to meet the demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade.
We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space propulsion technology.
We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry.
We are looking for talented professionals to join our international team in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, etc.) is key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team!
We are looking for an Avionics Systems Engineer in Barcelona:
About your job: You will work with the development of the avionics subsystems and Engine Control Units for the company's projects and products, both for in-space and launcher propulsion systems, starting with co-designing the avionics subsystem for a CubeSat Propulsion system with an external supplier, for which you will be the main interface.
More concretely, you will create a waterproof set of requirements and coordinate the developments of avionics suppliers to ensure the final developed solution is well documented and can be verified with the set requirements. In this process, you will be interfacing with all engineering fields in a multi-disciplinary team to advance the entire system's progress. You will also be expected to follow up with the suppliers, resolve issues with the suppliers, push the suppliers when needed, or propose possible alternatives, in order to move the project forward effectively.
You will be the lead responsible and sole expert for all avionics related topics at the company, and you will be expected to manage your own projects. You should therefore be very comfortable working independently and taking on responsibility, and you should hold sufficient expertise on avionics and electronics to be able to understand all aspects of the avionics system (including firmware), make conceptual designs of possible solutions, and review the supplier's solutions during one-on-one meetings, and by writing RFIs, RFQs, etc.
You should have enough understanding of systems engineering to confidently manage a complete and complex system, understand what functionalities and interfaces will be needed based on the needs of the overall propulsion system, and define these thoroughly and properly to be able to delegate the detailed design to a supplier or partner. Experience in dealing with suppliers is highly meritorious, and high proactivity is a must. You will also be expected to perform the definition of work packages relating to avionics (required tasks, man-hours, resources, etc.) for Pangea's various project proposals.
What you need to be successful: Master's degree in electrical engineering, similar or demonstrated equivalent experience.Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience in the field of electronics and embedded systems.Experience with systems engineering and avionics development for space projects.Experience with handling external suppliers.Experience in managing complex projects.Experience working with quality standards for EEE components (AEC-Q, ECSS, ESCC, etc.).Knowledge of digital/serial communication buses and protocols (e.g., CAN, RS-232, RS-485, SPI, I2C, etc.).Fluency in English.Other useful skills: Experience with electronics and software development for CubeSat applications.Knowledge of processes for space qualification of COTS EEE components.Experience in avionics subsystem verification process.Experience in software qualification test campaign.Experience with programming languages for embedded systems (e.g., C, C++).Experience working with ECSS standards. Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they don't meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Aerospace, we're committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if you're enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply.
